Hold That Tiger!
Before things get too carried away on this blog, there is something everyone needs to know about me: I love Jeff Bridges. No, seriously. I love him. He is probably my absolute favorite actor. I don't know when I finally realized this, but certainly at least since "The Fisher King," I have totally adored him.
Mikey has been kind enough to indulge my Jeff obsession on our Netflix queue, and this morning we watched Francis Ford Coppola's "Tucker: The Man and His Dream." "The Godfather" aside, I am not a big fan of FFC, but Jeff's towering presence makes this biopic of a relatively obscure American dreamer worth checking out. You will also be treated to a nice turn by Joan Allen as Tucker's wife, Christian Slater as his oldest son, Dean Stockwell in a brief appearance as the certifiably wacked-out Howard Hughes, and the senior Bridges as an evil Senator from Michigan. Joe Jackson (remember him?) also cooked up a nice score.
Why do I love Jeff? As far as I am concerned, he has one of the greatest smiles (love that big Muppet-esque mug) in all of film, a graceful and sometimes fiersome physicality, and whole heaps of humanity.
So David, any chance you can get me a lunch date with the man??

I knew there was a love, but I did not know it was exclusive. So interesting. Does Tom Hulce know?
Anyway, perhaps he can make a film in philadelphia and you can work on the catering truck or be his personal assistant. a woman can dream.
I loved him in The Big Lebowski.
I guess I should clarify; JB is probably best defined as my favorite AMERICAN actor. Needless to say, there are scores of Brits and Aussies who also rank very highly. (It's hard to pick just one, isn't it?)
Tom hasn't returned my calls in years, so as far as I am concerned, it's his loss.
In the mean time, I need DBH to work on getting Jeff to come to town for a project. Maybe he'll end up in the next M. Night picture??
It's totally Tom's loss. Sounds like it's totally up to David now to get Jeff in philadelphia for a film. you do know that my door is always open should he decide to make a picture in DC.
What the...???
C'mon, DBH, you gotta give me a little more than that.
And when is that Terry Gilliam picture that he did going to come out??
You're my man on the inside! Don't let me down!
What's MOGULS??
A skiing pic?
So of course i had to go directly to IMBD to learn some more about JB's upcoming projects. I have to say that the cast of "The Moguls" looks pretty good (except for Ted Danson - GAG.) I am turning into a big fan of William Fitchner (Fitcher?), who was awesome in CRASH. He has great big BUG EYES.
Have you seen it, DBH, or are you just gagging on the story?
